Filtering & sorting

Narrow or reorder an existing collection using visible filters or sort controls. Merely browsing a list is insufficient. Study captured mobile app examples for UI/UX research.

Compare Filtering & sorting UX flows side by side

  1. Cleartrip: Refine hotel results

A local hotel-booking subflow opens the results filters, selects Free cancellation, applies the changed estimate, and returns to visibly refined inventory.

  2. Nykaa: Filter products

Open the app, go to Categories, drill from Fragrances down to women's perfumes, narrow the listing to one fragrance family, and open a discounted perfume to read its price, offers, description and customer rating.

  3. SNITCH: Search and filter the catalog

The reusable SNITCH discovery operation: reach a results listing from the dedicated search surface — by typing a query, following a typeahead suggestion, or tapping a TOP SEARCHES chip — then narrow it using the filter and sort sheet (sort order, colour and other facets). The captured variant searched for linen shirts, sorted by lowest price and applied the GREEN colour facet, ending on the filtered listing.
